We are a community of ordinary people who have been transformed and empowered by the extraordinary grace of Jesus. Together, we seek to live out that grace by loving God wholeheartedly, serving others faithfully, and sharing the hope of Christ wherever we go.


Through worship, discipleship, and community, we strive to be a place where everyone can experience belonging, find purpose, and grow deeper in their relationship with God. How We Came To Be

Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene was founded in 1943, at a time when the world was gripped by the turmoil of World War II. In the midst of uncertainty, fear, and change, a group of dedicated believers came together with a shared vision: to provide a beacon of hope and light to a community in need. From its earliest days, Fairlawn has been a place where people could experience God’s love, find encouragement, and build meaningful relationships, even during the most challenging times.

As the decades have passed, our mission has remained steadfast. We continue to shine God’s light into the heart of Topeka, reaching out to families, neighbors, and individuals from all walks of life. Our ministries have grown, our community has expanded, and our impact has deepened—but the core purpose has never wavered: to be a place of hope, faith, and transformation. Today, Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene stands as a testament to enduring faith, a welcoming home for all, and a living example of God’s grace in action.

Our Roots

The Church of the Nazarene traces its roots to a pivotal meeting in Pilot Point, Texas, in 1908. It was at this gathering that a group of holiness leaders united to form a new denomination devoted to spreading the message of Christ’s holiness and transforming lives. This historic event marked the official birth of the Church of the Nazarene and set the foundation for its mission of faith, service, and spiritual renewal.

From these humble beginnings, the church quickly grew, establishing congregations across the United States and eventually around the world. Today, the Church of the Nazarene operates in over 160 countries, continuing to make Christlike disciples, serve communities, and offer a welcoming place for people from all walks of life.
